The Iranian State Security Forces in Tehran raided people’s homes in Tehran’s Sa’adat Abad area, rounding up or destroying their satellite dishes. These measures faced widespread protests by the residents. According to state-run media the clerical regime has launched a blitzkrieg plan to round up satellite dishes in Tehran since late May of this year, attacking people’s homes in low profile. Cleric Mohseni Gorgani, head of the regime’s supreme court, said in this regard, “The enemy has through such measures attacked our youths’ mental and moral foundations. We are concerned about 120 networks, out of 4,000 satellite networks, that are flooding into Iran encroaching on political affairs and those that raise issues against religious scholars.”. The regime’s efforts to block people’s access to dissident satellite TV networks, in parallel to the Internet crackdown, shows the fear of regime’s senior officials in people’s being enlightened and increasing popular uprisings.
