This morning a Synagogue in the Har Nof area of Jerusalem was attacked by two Palestinian terrorists. Four people were killed in the attack, and Hamas claimed immediately the responsibility of the action (even if now it seems that PFLP is the real responsible). Few hours after the attack, the paramilitary forces of Iran – Basij and Pasdaran – used Twitter to praise the killing of the “Zionist enemy”.
The tweet published on the affiliate account of Basij (@Basijbrothers) is very explicit. The text of the tweet, expresses congratulations with the Palestinian people and described the attack as an action in defense of al Aqsa (meaning Jerusalem).
The IRGC also published a tweet on their affiliate account (@IRGCnetwork). The tweet described the terrorist action as an “armed attack against a Synagogue in the occupied territories“. A clear support to the action in name of the “resistance” and also a implicit way to say that – in the Iranian view – all Jerusalem must be considered as an occupied territory. It is important to remember that Har Nof is situated in the West part of Jerusalem, an area under the Israeli control since 1948.
