The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to buy a huge quantity of weapons from Russia. On November 13, a delegation from the Russian Federation Council arrived in Iran, lead by Valentina Matviyenko, the speaker of Russia’s upper house of Parliament. In this occasion, the two parts agreed on strengthening the defense and military cooperation, and it seems that Tehran will buy from Moscow tanks T-90, airplanes and helicopters, for a total amount of $ 10 billion. During the visit, the MP Viktor Ozerov – head of the Defense and Security Committee of the Russian Federation Council – announced that the S-300 will enter into service by the end of 2016. In the days before, the Iranian interest for Russian weapons was confirmed by Zamir Bukalov, high rank career diplomat, and special envoy of Putin to Afghanistan.
