Commander of Iraqi pro-Iran militia visited Lebanon border with Israel [Video]

In what appeared a dangerous move which could spark new tension, the Arab media have published a video of the Iraqi shia commander Sheikh Amin Qais al-Khazali in southern Lebanon, very close to the Israeli border (ten kilometers from the Golan Heights). Sheikh Amin Qais al-Khazali is the commander of the Iraq shia militia Asaib Ahl al-Haq, financed and equipped by the Iranian Quds Force and part of the Popular Mobilization Forces. In the video, it is possible to see al-Khazali with a commander of Hezbollah and, speaking to the phone, saying that he is “full readiness to stand together with the Lebanese people and the Palestinian cause”. Turkey does not trust Iran and has expressed all its worried during the Sochi’s agreement on Syria, between Erdogan, Putin and Rouhani. In the meeting, behind the scenes, Turkey was scared by the silence of the Iranian counterpart, especially related to the strong presence of pro-Iranian militias in Syria (and also in Iraq). More, Erdogan considers Rouhani as a “weak link”, and it is not sure that an agreement with him will last. The three parts – Russia, Turkey and Iran – agreed on a peace summit on Syria, but Turkey poses two condition: 1- the exclusion of the Syrian Kurds from the Summit (which was proposed by Russia); 2- the new peace summit must not be an alternative to the Geneva’s process.
