In a long interview with Al-Arabiya, the former Minister of Defense of Iraq Hazim al-Shaalan al-Khuzaei – who was also Governor of Al-Qādisiyyah Province in 2003 – reveals how Iranian regime started his meddling in the Iraqi internal affairs and how is also exploiting today the Iraqi territory, to achieve its geopolitical goals. Al-Khuzaei said that, the attempt of Iran to meddling in the Iraqi affairs, started long time ago.
One of the key man in this project was the Iraqi Shia cleric Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, executed by Saddam Hussein in 1980. For al-Khuzaei, al-Sadr was killed by Saddam after a decision of Iran. Al-Sadr, in a radio interview with Tehran, had expressed his will to leave Iraq, to save the life of his son, who was sick. In that interview, the interviewer reacted saying that they (the Iranians) wanted him to remain there, in order to bring the Islamic revolution also in Iraq. Al-Kuzaei, thinks that this was the prove that Iran has sold al-Sadr to Saddam, in the moment in which it was not useful.
After the fall of the Saddam’s regime, Iran has started to sent thousands of Afghan in Iraq. Here, they receive the military training, before going to fight in Syria for Bashar al Assad. Today many of these Afghans, are living in Iraqi using documents of dead Iraqis.
Hazim al-Shaalan al-Khuzaei (who is a Shiite) told that in 2003, when he was Governor of Al-Qādisiyyah, a person came to him and said that the Iranians have requested the permission to bring 500 people in Najaf, to collect the rubbish. Between them there was also Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who became after the Mayor of Tehran. Using the excuse of the cleaning of the holy city, these Iranian men – who were Basij – have distributed book in order to attract young people to the Iranian version of the Shia Islam.
Speaking about the actuality, Hazim al-Shaalan al-Khuzaei said tha Iran is using Iraq to have a direct connection with Syria and with the Mediterranean sea. Bashar al-Assad, unlike is father, is completely in the hands of the Iranian regime. The former Iraqi Defense Minister also revealed that, since 2005, almost all the weapons and material that Iran sent for Hezbollah, have passed through Iraq. He also added that, in his opinion, Iran is responsible for the rise of al-Qaeda (and after Isis) in Iraq, because it has given its territory to the terrorists of Osama Bin Laden, in order to use them in Iraq.
At the end of the interview, al-Khuzaei accused Iran of printing false Dinar, and to spread them in Iraq.
