US think tank: “Iranian missile attack in Syria was a failure”

Source: alweeam.com.sa

On June 18, the Iranian regime announced of having fired six missiles Zolfawar, against Isis targets in Syria, in the Deir al-Zour Province. In particular, the targets were two telecommunications towers and their associated buildings. As well known, the attack was a reaction to the two terrorists attacks of Isis in Tehran, one against the Parliament and the second against the Shrine of the Imam Khomeini. After the attack, the Pasdaran exulted and described the action as the first “clear message” to the takfiri terrorists and their regional supporters (meaning Saudi Arabia).
But now, it seems that the Iranian attacks in Syria were a complete failure. The US think tank Washington Institute, published an article claiming that the Iranian missiles did not hit the targets, but landed elsewhere. Seven Iranian missiles landed in the Iraq desert, while other three missed completely the objectives. Only one or two of the missiles launched by the Pasdaran, arrived close to their targets.
If confirmed, this failure demonstrates that the Iranian missiles have a serious problem of quality control and reliability. The author of the article, Farzin Nadimi, also underline that Tehran could try to obtain foreign technology, in order to remedy the failure.

Iran MP Mohammad Dehghan: “Isis has infiltrated our intelligence services”

Source: al-Arabiya; Mehr News

In an interview with the Iranian press agency Mehr News, the Iranian MP Mohammad Dehghan, launched harsh accuses against the intelligence. Speaking about the two terrorist attacks of Tehran – happened on June 7 – Dehghan revelaed that there was a secret meeting held by the Iranian parliament. In this meeting, it was denounced that the terrorists had infiltrated the Iranian intelligence. He even added that “some elements of the Iranian security system have cooperated with Isis”. The infiltration is also demonstrated for Mohammad Dehghan, by the fact that it would be impossible to carry out these attacks, without the cooperation of entities working within the country, especially inside the Iranian intelligence service. For these reasons, Mohammad Dehghan asked to the Iranian Minister of Intelligence Mahmoud Alavi, to explain what happened.
It is important to add that the official version given by the Iranian Minister of intelligence about the responsible of the attacks – four people wearing women’s clothing – was contradicted by the videos published online (also one published by media close to Isis). On the social networks, many Iranian activists are accusing the regime for the attacks: one of the terrorists, named Sarias Sadeghi, was previously arrested by the intelligence for his activity in favor of Isis in the Iranian region of Kurdistan. He was after released and was also free to travel in Syria and Iraq. For these activists, the attacks were the result of a short circuit in the relations between the Iranian regime, and the Sunni radicalism.

On this religious aspect, Mohammad Bin Salman added that Iranian regime is committed in preparing the ground for the return of the “Imam Mahdi and (in order to achieve this goal) they must control the Muslim world“. Speaking about the threats of Iran to Saudi Arabia, the Deputy Crown Prince said that Riyadh knows that the real goal of Tehran is to reach the focal point of the Muslim world (Mecca) and, because of this, “we will not wait the fight inside Saudi Arabia“, working to bring the battle inside Iran.

Iranian MFA official admits: “We don’t have an exit strategy in Syria”

Source: IR Diplomacy

In an article published on Iran Diplomacy, Mostafa Zahrani, Head of Policy Planning and Strategic Issues at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his worried about the Iranian strategy in Syria. Zahrani remarked that Russia follows its own interests in Syria and, after the military action started in September 2015, now is focused on a strategy of negotiation with USA and Israel. This strategy is based on avoiding that Hezbollah will create a base on the borders with Israel. For Zarhani, on this issue, Moscow agrees with United States and Israel.

Zahrani also added that, when Tehran started its involvement in Syria, the idea was that the action would be short and the enemy would be defeated quickly. This optimism, did not permit to Iran to think about an exit strategy from the conflict. Now, being without an exit strategy, it became a big problem for the Islamic Republic and Iran needs to find a solution soon. For Mostafa Zarhani, also Turkey is in the same situation of Iran.
