Iranian regime limits the access to the Web browser of “Telegram Messenger”

Source: Yjc.ir

The Iranian regime has decided to limit the access to the web browser of “Telegram Messenger”. Telegram – a Russian software – is an instant messaging service, but it offers also a web browser (link). It seems that the Iranian cyber security, has started to block or limit the access to the web browser, permitting something the only use of the ‘SSL’ protocol (the Secure Sockets Layer).

Few months ago, the CEO of Telegram Pavel Durov, revealed on Twitter that Iranian regime demanded the company provide them with “spying and censorship tools”. Telegram refused to accept the request of Tehran, and the application was briefly blocked (VoA).

Last week, the IRGC commander Gholam Reza Jalali – head of the Iran’s Civil Defense Organization – attacked the Iranian Government for its decision to sign agreements with Russian on satellite and telecommunications. He accused Rouhani to sell Iranian national infrastructures to the “Russian infidels” (Good Morning Iran).

Iran judiciary contradicts President Rouhani: “the ban against Khatami is valid”

Source: The Iran Primer, Lenziran, Digarban, Trend.az, Abbas Aslani, ShiaPulse

On February 2015, the Iranian judiciary ordered to Iranian media to do not mention the name of former President Mohammad Khatami or publish his picture. While announcing the censorship against Khatami, the judiciary spokesperson Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i did not name Khatami by name, instead referring to him as “the leader of the reformist government. Immediately after the announcing of Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i, Iranians have taken to social media sites Facebook and Twitter, both of which are blocked in Iran, to protest the ban. A campaign using the hashtag, “We will be Khatami’s media,” was launched.

Recently, in a press conference, President Rouhani denied that the Iranian national security has imposed a ban against Khatami (video below in Farsi). Few hours after the President’s Conference, judiciary spokesperson Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i repeated that the decision against Khatami was part of the laws against “leaders of sedition”, set out by the Supreme National Security Council and the judiciary. He added that the ban against Khatami was decided directly by Prosecutor General.

It seems that, in his press conference, Hassan Rouhani prevented the entrance of the journalists of Fars News, Tasnim News and Kahyan Daily considered all to close to Pasdaran and Khamenei.

In an interview with Tasnim News, Motahari remarked that “when the administration is reformist, there will be more pressure to prevent the government’s tendency toward opening the political atmosphere“.

Iran Parliament is using Charlie Hebdo cartoons as an excuse to silence all reformist journalists

Source: International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran

A few days after the Iranian Judiciary ordered the reformist Mardom-e Emrooz newspaper banned, ultra conservative members of the Iranian Parliament are working on legislation to permanently ban journalists who have worked for reformist publications that were shut down by the authorities. The measure is meant to ensure that such journalists will not resurface and continue their work in another publication. Hardliner cleric MP Hamid Rasaei told to Tasnim News agency: “We are preparing an urgent plan that would require the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to prevent an individual [from continuing his] work in the press and his assumption of responsibilities in this area, after media under his management has been repeatedly banned for insulting the sacred“. He added: ““We are concerned that just like the years of American reforms [referring to reformist Mohammad Khatami’s presidency, 1996-2004], and as a result of the misconduct of the Culture Ministry and the Government’s support for this sick media current, the press would again turn into enemy bases, [necessitating] the Supreme Leader to warn against certain media’s having turned into enemy bases”.

Iran, Basij and Rafsanjani clash over how to react to Charlie Hebdo’s cartoons

Source: @ShiaPulse

After the decision of Charlei Hebdo to publish again the controversy cartoons, the Iranian militia Basij, has called its followers to demonstrate today in front of the French Embassy in Tehran. The calling was rejected by IscaNews, a website affiliate with the former President Rafsanjani. The article invited the people to do not attend the protest and has remembered the damage caused to the national interests by the 2011’s protest against the UK Embassy in the capital: this comparison is interesting because that protest exploded after the decision of London to approve new sanctions on Iran for the nuclear program. In that occasion 1000 people, all close to Basij, gathered outside the Embassy in order to ask the withdrawal of UK representative from Iran. The protesters succeeded in forcing the doors of the embassy and started to threw away documents and papers. The attack caused the official protest of London to UN and provoked also the withdrawal of Canadian ambassador from Iran.

Iran and ILO plan to expand cooperation! We need to stop it now! Support the campaign “Iran Out of ILO”!

iran2

Tehran Times reports that Iran and ILO – the International Labor Organization – are ready to expand cooperation. The Iranian website says that the decision was taken after a meeting between Iranian Deputy Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Minister Mohammad Taqi Hossein and ILO Director General Guy Ryder. This decision sounds incredible: the Islamic State of Iran, in fact, does not respect many fundamental standards requested of ILO. In August 2014, a special campaign launched by “Good Morning Iran” requested officially the immediate suspension of Iran from ILO. This because, despite  the agreements signed by Iranian executive with the International Labor Organization, Tehran continues to support officially gender segregation in the workplaces, refuses to act seriously against the high rate of child labor in the country (14% of Iranian children are forced to work) and forbids practically the real creation of independent Trade Unions in the country.

We invite all the followers to continue the campaign “Iran Out Of ILO” in order to improve the labor quality standards inside the Islamic Republic of Iran:

Is there an internal political war for the control of the Quds Force? Maybe yes…

Iran Foreign Minister Zarif is a liar and, on this, no one could have doubt. His claim to deny the presence of Qassem Soleimani, head of Quds Force, in Iraq was completely contradicted by a picture and a video of the Iranian military commander in Amerli. In the video, in particular, it is possible to see Soleimani dancing after the victory against Isis forces. Below the exclusive video, posted on Internet yesterday in the afternoon.

[youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ykt2Ux2qvUQ%5D

Despite the video and its meaning, the situation inside the Quds Force, the special unit of Pasdaran, it is unclear. Last week, for example, an article published by Saudi newspaper Asharq al Awsat, has revealed that the command of the Quds Force in Iraq has passed from the responsibility of Soleimani to the responsibility of Hossein Hamadani. The big failure of Soleimani was the end of al Maliki executive in Iraq, considered by Teheran as a redline. The replacing of al-Maliki was something that Khamenei was forced to accept in view of the Isis’ threat to Iranian border, but it’s still considered a failure inside the Islamic Republic. It is important to remember that, thanks to al-Maliki silent support, Tehran has sent via Iraq thousands of Shia jihadists in Syria and has saved the regime of Bashar al Assad.

Iran denied the rumors about Soleimani and Hamadani. But now, a new information connected to this possible internal war inside the Quds Force arrived from Tehran. Several reports from Iran informed that, this year, the responsibility to refer about the Iraqi situation in front of the Assembly of Experts, has passed to Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, head of Iran Supreme National Security Council. Last year, on the contrary, Qassem Soleimani was the key official to give to Khamenei and the other Mullahs the special briefing.

In conclusion: it is difficult to decipher the actual internal political situation inside the Quds Force. The secrecy, in fact, is the key point of this special unit. In any case, the rumors on Hamadani and the information about Shamkhani, are two clear messages that something important it’s happening. In this contest, the exclusive video of Qassem Soleimani dancing in Amerli, something very rare to see, could be the first reaction of the pro-Soleimani faction to whom is trying to replace the famous Pasdaran commander.
